It’s rare that a fire beats in my brain to write like this, so I will take advantage of it while I may.
An End To The Beginning
What started 5 months ago as an experiment has become a fully formed blog (more or less) that has been viewed by nearly a quarter of a million unique viewers. There are a lot of stories connected with those numbers. Some of you may know them; others may not.
Hit articles….almost hit articles, articles that deserve to be hits but aren’t.
A lot of ingredients go into this place.
But the most important one is the affection and passion of the readers that mirrors my own when it comes to the art we love.
And that’s why I’m letting you know where we are headed.
The Evolution Of An Idea
This blog has been an evolving vision in my mind for some time. To see it take shape through hard work, luck, mistakes etc… well, it’s pretty humbling. But I feel like it is all starting to come into focus. There are a great many things that I have in store for the future – including some mind blowing stuff that will change what this blog is in a major way – but for now I am committed to the work of making it the best it can be with just my own two little hands, and your trust in me.
I promise you that I am always thinking of new ways to expand the relationship that we have. As I do the work on cobbling together my little corner of the Internet, I need to know that you are there. So when I get emails, comments, links from your own blogs it means more to me than I can tell you. And it makes me want to tell you all of my plans….even though I can’t at the moment.
For right now, lots of little changes – some cosmetic, others deep down in the core of what PopCultureOfDestruction.com is – are being hammered out. You probably heard the ringing anvil off in the distance.
So, Bottom Line It For Me, Baz….
I am going to be experimenting with the form my article take. I’m going to be writing different things. I may invite others who share my passions (or passionately disagree) to write their own articles. Dissent is good. It marks passion. And let us be passionate! By all means, and in all ways! Lets not be afraid to speak our minds, or make fools of ourselves….or geniuses. I suppose if one can be hit upon accidentally so can the other.
This blog began with the germ of an idea to be passionate. I want to search for new ways to uncover the passionate and to explore that uncovered passion. Your participation is not only requested…it is required.
I am Nothing Without You
And so I end this with a simple love letter to my readers. You have put up with my arrogance, my mistakes, my missteps. But you’ve seemed to find something good in me…. and so fingers with continue to play over keys in hopes of opening up new worlds of thought and exploration into the uncharted expanses of Popular Culture. It is a part of my soul, and has been from the very beginning. In some ways culture is like a set of stories we tell each other. Why do some people shake hands and other bow? Why is it important to find your soul-mate… and how do you do it? Is love really a great adventure than anyone can have? Even me?
These are just a few of the burning questions. I will do my best to find a few burning answers, or tell a few entertaining stories along the way as we look for the answers together.
We may find the answers in a film, a book, a play, a comic or a radio program or even a song.
That is the nature of culture. It is the stories we tell each other – true and false.
That is my humble opinion, but I would love to hear yours. If you have been an avid reader, but lurking… let me know what you think. Take a moment to leave a comment or write me an email at BazAnderson@Gmail.com. You might be surprised at the response you get.
